The History of the House

The Legend of
Captain Lala Saul

When you step through the door of La Maison du Capitaine Lala Saul, you are not just entering a guesthouse, but a living legend.

This house tells the romantic story of Captain Lala Saul, an enigmatic sailor, adventurer, and collector of stolen moments across the oceans.

His legacy is written in every wall, hinted at in every object.

A place steeped in mystery and journeys.

It is here, after a life spent sailing the seas of the globe, that Lala Saul is said to have placed his trunks for the last time. In this house, he would have gathered the memories of his travels: treasures from Asia and the East, ancient maps, mysterious writings, portraits of forgotten crews…

Some say that his memoirs still haunt these walls, that the tales of his explorations echo in the crackling of the wood, in the filtered light of the stained-glass windows.

Today, this house opens its doors to offer you, in turn, a journey through time and the seas. Each room immerses you in a stopover, every corner is an invitation to adventure.

Will you dare to come aboard?

Create a place
that reflects who we are

A place where art meets hospitality, where every object, every room, every detail tells a story. Nothing here has been left to chance: every armchair, every painting, every shade of color has been composed like a note in a symphony, creating a unique harmony between aesthetics and emotion.
We envisioned a singular universe, steeped in mystery, travel, and refinement—inspired by the legend of Captain Lala Saul, a sailor with a fascinating destiny, whose memoirs, found in a forgotten old journal, seem to still echo through the hushed hallways of this house.

Behind the elegant walls of this guest house, lovingly and meticulously restored, lie the fragments of a story—that of a man devoted to freedom, beauty, silence, and the extraordinary. Through his legacy, we have sought to create a place beyond time: both a refuge and a stage for imagined tales.
Here, you are not merely our guests—you are travelers in a world apart, where imagination meets elegance, and where every stay becomes a sensory, intimate, and precious experience.
A poetic interlude, to be lived fully.”

Hospitality
as an art of living

Behind the Maison Lala Saul, there is a couple passionate about hospitality, art, and stories to tell.

From the cuisine to the journey, from the welcome to the details, every moment here is designed as a unique experience.

Alain and Pascale Tual are a couple passionate about hospitality, sharing, and creativity, married for over ten years. Their professional backgrounds, both rich and complementary, have taught them to listen, understand, and offer much more than just a stay: a true experience.

Alain and Pascale Tual have rich professional backgrounds. Alain spent a significant part of his career supporting people, initially as a service manager for an association dedicated to adults with disabilities, and later in child protection services. Pascale worked in the fields of communication and culture, notably for the city of Deauville and a public institution under the ministries of Ecology and Finance. Together, they bring a unique blend of experience in human care, culture, and communication.

In 2019, they chose to settle in Brittany to fulfill a shared dream: to create vibrant, warm spaces that reflect their image. Their first venture took the form of a small, unique restaurant where cuisine already met art and human connection.

Continuing on, they opened their first charming guesthouse in 2021, which they happily ran for four years. This experience strengthened their desire to offer much more than just accommodation: a true art of living.

The Maison du Capitaine Lala Saul is the culmination of this journey. An even more intimate place, more scenographed, more poetic. A confidential house, inspired by their love for stories, atmospheres, and the simple beauty of things well done.
